The Emory Critical Illness Research Center (E-CIRC) is a joint initiative between Emory Healthcare’s Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Departments. E-CIRC’s mission is to lead multi-center trials in emergency medicine, critical care, and emergency neuroscience that directly influence and improve clinical practice. Key priorities include advancing treatments in emergent, resuscitative, and intensive care, as well as acute neurological emergencies. In all the research it supports, E-CIRC emphasizes rapid intervention to enhance survival, minimize long-term disability, and optimize recovery.
Committed to cultivating the next cadre of exceptional clinical researchers, E-CIRC integrates expertise across emergency medicine, critical care, and neuroscience. Through mentorship, team-based research environments, and dedicated support for junior investigators, E-CIRC empowers emerging leaders not only to conduct research that pushes the boundaries of critical illness but also to deliver meaningful, evidence-based improvements in patient outcomes and overall quality of life for some of Emory’s most vulnerable patients.
