Established in 2005, the Grady Trauma Project is a leading clinical research program dedicated to understanding the complex interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors in trauma exposure and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Focused on highly trauma-exposed, low resourced, and racially diverse populations, the Grady Trauma Project conducts cutting-edge research to identify genetic, epigenetic, neurobiological, and psychosocial mechanisms that contribute to PTSD and its comorbid conditions, including depression and cardiovascular disease. By leveraging a multidisciplinary approach, the project integrates neuroimaging, psychophysiology, behavioral assessments, and community-based interventions to advance scientific knowledge and improve mental health outcomes for trauma survivors. Through translational research, the Grady Trauma Project aims to bridge the gap between discovery and clinical application, informing evidence-based treatments and trauma-informed care models to enhance resilience and recovery in affected individuals.
